I was rejected by the school I graduated from (Indiana University). I was rejected by the syndicate who distributes my advice column (King Features Syndicate). I was rejected by all the publishers who sell my books. I was rejected by countless women online, including the woman I ended up marrying (she rejected me on JDATE). I get rejected every day of my life. That’s not an exaggeration. But here’s the secret — rejection doesn’t diminish my value. It makes my story better. It motivates me. It inspires me to be my personal best.
Do not let a rejection letter diminish your value. You have so much to offer the world. Admissions counselors don’t know you. Exceptional students can be exceptional wherever they land. The only person who determines your value is you. NEVER FORGET IT!!! I look forward to seeing you on campus, wherever you land. Now, please read this NY Times article and share it with everyone you know.
