Dear Harlan: My girlfriend and I have been dating for three months. I’m now finding that the cute things I used to like about her are starting to irritate me. One of the biggest things that makes me crazy is how everything that happens to her is the biggest deal in the world. I find her constant outrage and shock unbearable. Everything is about people doing something wrong to her. She acts like everyone is out to get her. My problem is that I’m still very attracted to her physically. I don’t know if I can handle all the other parts of her. Should I stay with her and hope the annoying parts go away, or break up?
— Scared
Dear Scared: It’s done. It’s over. It’s finished. When the hot and bothered becomes just bothered, time is typically up. You are the wrong person for her. Being physically attracted to someone isn’t going to keep you attracted to her. You have to like someone. Like is more important than love. When the liking part wears away, it’s the beginning of the end. Do her a big favor — move on. Oh, and if you do break up, expect her to be dramatic and blame it on you.
